Activity history

The directions of the Directors of the School were initially implemented solely by the School's Principal, Margaret Black. In May 1898, the Principal handed over the entire responsibility for the conduct of the School including finance and the power of engaging and dismissing teachers to an Executive Committee whose principal members were Sir Samuel Chisholm, noted for his involvement in charitable works in Glasgow, William Black, the nephew of Margaret Black, Dr Henry Dyer and Messrs. Mitchell, Johnstone and Nicholson.
