Activity history

The School was governed by a Committee of Directors. In 1875, a public meeting had appointed a Committee of Gentlemen to initiate the movement for the establishment of the Glasgow Cookery School. The convenor was the Rev. F. Lockhart Robertson, a minister of the Church of Scotland. Later in the same year, after the establishment of the School, the Committee was renamed the Committee of Directors. It comprised twenty three directors and was headed honorifically by the Lord Provost. Directors included the Catholic Archbishop of Glasgow, the Secretary of the Abstainers Union, MPs and professors.
