Activity history

Discipline of the scholars was primarily the responsibility of the headmaster and the teachers, with corporal punishment administered by the janitor. The ultimate responsibility, however, rested with the trustees. The Allan Glen's Institution Act of 1876 gave the trustees the power to make, vary and rescind byelaws, rules and regulations concerning the conduct and discipline of the scholars and, if necessary, to dismiss boys from the school.

In 1887, responsibility for handling disciplinary cases passed, with the government of the school, to the governing body of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College. Finally, in 1912, it passed to the School Board of Glasgow.
