History

The Committee of Management was established 29 May 1894 under the constitution drawn up by the committee appointed for this purpose at a general meeting of the mechanics' class at Anderson's Institution. In 1879, the College was registered under the companies acts and the Committee of Management was replaced by a Council.

Mandate

The Committee of Management was responsible for the whole management of the College. It had the power to make bye-laws for the better regulation of the class and Library provided that they did not infringe upon the constitution.

Administrative structure

The Committee comprised sixteen members chosen by and from the students of the course on chemistry and mechanics. It met once a month. Initially, there were three subcommittees: finance, library and apparatus.
