History

The Secretary was first elected by the Committee of Ordinary Managers of Anderson's Institution in 1796.

The Secretary was responsible for keeping the minutes of the meetings of the Trustees and the Managers and carrying out the administration of the institution in accordance with the instructions of the Managers.
