The school was first opened in Johnston Terrace, and additional accommodation were made available when the College acquired premises in Chambers Street in 1879. |
Mandate |
The Normal School provided an opportunity for teacher training students to study teaching methods used in schools. It was so called because it had been established as a place where the 'norm' or rules of teaching could be demonstrated and imitated. Lessons that were taught included Gaelic, Arithmetic, Geography, Grammar, Mathematics, Latin and Greek and Religious Knowledge. |
