Activity history |
The entire management of the institution was carried out by trustees appointed by the will of Thomas Atkinson. The minutes of their proceedings were kept by a clerk appointed by the trustees from the Glasgow law firm of Kerr and Barrie. In 1882, the post of clerk was combined with the previously existing post of treasurer, under the title of treasurer and secretary. In 1887, the institution was amalgamated with Anderson's College, the College of Science and Arts, Allan Glen's Institution and the Young Chair of Technical Chemistry to form the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College. The trustees of Atkinson's Institution, together with the trustees of the other institutions, were responsible for the management of the new college until 26 May 1887. At this date a newly constituted board of governors assumed control. |
