Popular Evening Class Committee 1796-1887

Responsibility for course administration fell to the professors and lecturers, popular evening class committee, managers and secretary. Originally, the time of a class was set by the professor or lecturer giving that class. However, after a number of timetable clashes and disputes over class times, the managers intervened and timetables were henceforth agreed between the managers and professors and lecturers, and, in the case of the evening classes, with the popular evening class committee. These agreements are recorded in the managers' minutes and the popular evening class committee minutes. A syllabus and time table for the ensuing session was published by the secretary in the institution's calendar.

The professors and lecturers produced and were in charge of issuing tickets of admission for their classes. They also compiled class lists and registers of those attending their classes and issued certificates of attendance for good performance and regular attendance.
