Activity history

No formal student recruitment scheme was in operation at the institution. However, advertisements for classes were placed by the secretary, after approval by the trustees, in local and chemistry related newspapers. The secretary, on the instructions of the trustees, prepared a circular which he sent to proprietors of public works and others with employees who might be interested in the institution, enclosing copies of the syllabus for the ensuing session. The professor was also responsible for a certain degree of marketing the classes.
