Announcement of New Project (1st August 2003) |
|
Glasgow University Archive Services is delighted to announce that we have today embarked on a groundbreaking new project to continue and develop GASHE. The project, entitled ‘Developing Archival Context Standards for Functions in the Higher Education Sector’ is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Board and will run until 28 February 2006. It will continue the innovative research begun by the GASHE project into the potential impact of a functional approach to archival description. Many further descriptions of the functions and activities performed by the Scottish Higher Education Institutions from the fifteenth century to the present day will be added to those already available on the GASHE site and all relevant archives will be flagged up. A report on the methods used and the improvements gained by the functional approach will also be produced. The project’s ultimate aim is to improve access for users and improve archival descriptive practice world-wide.
