Navigational Aids for the History of Science, Technology and the Environment (NAHSTE) is another RSLP project. Despite the different content of the projects, it was recognised from the bidding stages that the data components were very similar between the GASHE and NAHSTE projects and both have worked closely on identified areas of common interest. Data creation and IT delivery requirements have been the main focus as it was recognised that financial benefits could be gained from pooling IT development resources.
Edinburgh Data and Information Access (EDINA) provides a national online services for the UK tertiary education and research community. It carries out a range of projects in fields such as networked information, information management, data capture, and geographical information, both to support its own development and in support of other agencies, academic departments, and government bodies. In terms of the GASHE project it has created free text and index controlled searching facilities based on the underlying structure of the XML formatted data. It has also built in simple navigation between the data components and an easy means of updating existing data.
